FCP Workflow

In the initial release stages of the RED there was certainly a lot of confusion surrounding the post workflow. It was certainly quite simple for Final Cut Pro edit-based systems as Final Cut had the patent on REDs open-source for 12 months. That is now over and, since then, the workflow for Avid-based systems has progressed leaps and bounds and processing RED footage is becoming easier by the day. With the advent of the RED Rocket card that can transcode the footage in real-time, the earlier post concerns are truly a thing of the past. This certainly does not mean there are no issues for RED in post and, traditionally, the footage does require a bit more care than that generated from higher-end cameras. For this reason alone, The Digital Cine Company have developed close-working relationships with a few

post-production facilities (Absolute Post & Outpost Facilities) to help accommodate your project. With these working relationships we have developed our understanding of post workflows and they have also learnt from our intimate knowledge of the camera technologies. If, however, you have your own post facility to work with then we will be more than happy to contact them and discuss their technical requirements. The Digital Cine Company will also be there to advise the post house if they have any questions and accommodate their needs accordingly. The technology is changing all the time for all post systems out there and, instead of publishing information on the subject that will most likely be redundant next month, we strongly advise to give us a call and we can talk you through the latest systems and any other concerns you may have.

Absolute Post is a post-production company specialising in creating hi-end visual effects for TV commercials, music videos, films and digital media. Once known as London's hottest boutique post house, Absolute rapidly grew in to a full-service transatlantic facility with London and New York offices running a 24/7 Flame and 3D service. Absolute has twice won the British Television Advertising Award for best post-production and has collected several other industry accolades including: a D&AD pencil, a Cannes Lion, an APA Collection Diamond, three Andys and an MTV video statue. David Smith, one of the world's leading Flame talents, established Absolute's London HQ in 2004. The New York office opened in 2007 to further facilitate Absolutes rapidly expanding international client roster.

Outpost Facilities is over 10 years old and they have a small team of very knowledgeable and talented post-production experts used to working at the cutting edge of technology. They pride themselves on providing cost-effective and innovative solutions to post-production projects. Their size means they have all the equipment needed to finish your project and can still offer a dedicated personal service. They are the closest regional post-production facility to London as they are less than 100 yards outside the M25, which is important if you need to fulfill the Ofcom regional requirements.
